One of my favorite memories of working at Truckin' was taking two Joe Gibbs Racing trucks (one Silverado and one Tahoe) down to San Diego for a Friday night test and tune. Thinking of that night, I wonder...are sport trucks dead?
Sure gas prices are high, tires aren't getting any cheaper but, there are still red-blooded Americans who want to go fast! I'm one of them. That day, driving down to San Diego from Orange County, Harley and I drove what could be considered a little faster than legally permitted, however, we didn't get caught, I still have a job (for now anyway) and we had a blast weaving in and out of traffic in two supercharged, sport-tuned, trucks that handled very well. Arriving in San Diego, we proceeded to beat-up on some Ford Lightning guys that didn't appreciate the Bow Ties running away from their Blue Ovals. Those Joe Gibbs trucks were so much fun and covered under a full warranty. I wonder if Joe Gibbs will team up with Toyota, now that he is running Toyotas in NASCAR, and build some sweet Tundras. I know for a fact that MagnaCharger is making blowers for TRD that make 505hp from the 5.7L V-8s. Sounds like a good time to me. If they do build 'em, we'll test 'em and help prove that sport trucks aren't dead.
