While attending a PSCA Pacific Street Car Association event I was cruising through the pits and noticed the Banks Performance trailer, parked in front was the Banks Sidewinder S-10. I introduced myself to the receptive crew. I had worked with Don Alexander during Banks development of the first Sidewinder that set the record at Bonneville a couple of years ago.
The drag version S-10 is a modified Don Ness built NHRA Pro Stock Truck. The Banks crew built a Chevy Duramax 6.6 Liter, 403 ci diesel that produces just as much torque as it does horsepower 1,250!
The Banks crew hit the chassis set spot-on, driver Wes Anderson's first pass was a record breaking 7.72 seconds at 179.21 mph! Later in the day Anderson backed it up with a 7.78, 179.23!!
