Driving home from a shoot, the freeway suddenly came to a stop. Applying the brakes on our '08 Toyota Tundra with 1,200 miles on the odometer, all I heard and felt was a boom!

That is when I received a lesson in the law of phyiscs. When a 1-1/2 ton flatbed tow truck is traveling 35mph and a Toyota Tundra Crew Max 4WD is stopped, a rather large collision  takes place and  other things happen as well. Steel goes from being straight to not-so-straight, fluids no longer like their containers, and necks snap, crackle, and pop. Later I found out that the tow truck driver was talking on his cell phone and not paying attention to the taffic in front of him. He never saw me stop, all he did was rearrange the bed of our brand-new Tundra. Luckily, our tester Tundra was equipped with a Class III/IV receiver, which basically saved the frame from any real damage. $16,700 later, the Tundra is back to good-as-new. The tow truck wasn't so fortunate as it couldn't even drive off of the freeway. It had to be towed, yes I know it's funny, off to the side and it required extensive repairs. Next time you're thinking of buying an econo-box for better MPG, think about your safety. If I had been in a small car, I'd probably not be writing this.
