So my boss sends me an email today from an article he saw online dealing with people in the low to middle income sector and how these people are struggling to pay their energy bills and the ways they are trying to achieve savings across the board to lower these bills. That means dropping the thermostat on the heater, eating out less, buying cheaper versions of products they need, and spending less on clothes and medicines.
All these things got me to thinking. At what point do our magazines start to lose their relevence in society as people begin cuting back in all areas of life including the entertainment they derive from reading magazines. Does their source of knowledge that was once derived from magazines now come virtually free by reading news and information on the internet? Or is there still something really special about rushing out to the newsstand and picking up the latest edition of what ever is your favorite magazine and reading it at your leisure? I mean after all do you really read an internet page or internet magazine with the same efficiencies as you do with an actual print version. I know that when I read a print magazine once, I usually will re-read it several times over the course of a month or several monthes later. I don't do that with an internet version. How about you? I'd love to hear your thoughts or ideas on this? Am I simply a dinosaur and haven't embraced new technology yet? Maybe but let's take a poll.
