I just got my new Sears tool catalog today and was looking through all the super cool looking tool sets and began to wonder. Are you tool brand loyal? Meaning, do you only use Sears Craftsman tools, do you only use MAC tools or do you only use Snap-On tools? I use to be of the opinion to only use Craftsman tools primarily becasue that was all my father used but as time and money would have it, often a Craftsman tool wasn't available so I would purchase a less capable tool just to get the job done. Sometimes this worked and other times it didn't.
I also started to wonder why I was getting all these tool catalogs in the mail only to find basically the same sets of tools for totally cheaper prices. Soon discovering these cheaper tools were made outside the U.S. said a lot about quality and pricing. However, does it really matter? If you have the proper tool and you are a weekend wrench and not a true professional mechanic, do cheaper offshore tools work just as well and do you really need to have more expensive Craftsman, Snap-On or MAC tools? Just some thoughts?
