I have been very fortunate to live in Huntington Beach, California for the past 44-years. H.B. is known as "Surf City U.S.A." but it is also known as "Hot Rod Paridise" with many custom shops within it's city limits. One of the major custom car/truck enthusiast attraction in America is the famous Adams Donut Shop that has been a hang out for gearheads every Saturday morning since 1986.
When I am not covering a show out of town on the weekends, you will find me at the Donut Shop home of the Donut Derelicts which is conveniently only one-block from my house in H.B. I have been attending the Donut Shop religiously since 1988. My Saturday morning ritual is getting up at 4:30 a.m. splashing some cold water in my face, get dressed, stroll down stairs, grab a piece of fruit then cruise over to the Donut Shop.
We start arriving to claim our parking spots about 5:00 a.m. the parking lot accomodates about 200 custom cars and trucks. You never know who or what is going to show up, occationally Chip Foose will show up in his latest creation that he always debutes at the Donut Shop. Next time you are in SoCal you must make a point to checkout the Donut Shop on Saturday morning.Bob Ryder
