A while back I spent a "Day At The Races" with our brother editor Mike Finnegan, who heads up Sport Truck Magazine. The NJBA (National Jet Boat Accosiation) races were held on the liquid quarter-mile at lake Ming just north east of Bakersfield, Californa.
I have always been a speed freak, it dosn't matter if its dry or wet. For something different I hooked up with Mike who competes in the NJBA drag boat wars. He captians an 19 ft. Ultra Shadow hull that is powered by a 580 cu. in. Chevy big block gen. 4 that produces 1,100 horsepower. The horsepower is squirted through a Berkley jet. Mike's best quarter-mile pass with this power plant was a 8.80 e.t. at 119.00 mph.
There were no scattered parts and Mike never got wet.
A goodtime was had by all.
