Following the support we received from our VAN blogs, we picked up a new VAN project and will begin showing tech on VAN customization. Is this is a good idea?

OK, so the truth is, we did not buy an old van, but it was parked in our lot today at the office.

If we did run more (or should I say any) van tech, would you guys read it?

16. Good news guys,
I just signed off on a full van build-up project from a veteran freelance tech editor. The build-up (at least 3 stories) will showcase commonly worn-out parts and their replacement, performance upgrades and even body work.
Better yet, the van will be featured in an upcoming film, so once you see the van in our mag, you can check it out on the big-screen. Hopefully I'll have stories being mailed to me in 2 months. We're doing our best to be proactive and keep magazines in your hands.

Yes, I would read your van tech articles. Anything van related would be a welcomed addition to your magazine. If you are in need of a van to use as a project van,I have a Chevy I will give you. Thanks,Brad

19. Dan, I think this is a great place to start van coverage. We are getting a lot of new and younger vanners especially the 18 to 24 year old crowd. They aren't as familar as us old timers are with these very durable vans and a restoration and modernazation series will be very helpful... and before Ken (superbeast) gets on here and starts :) you gotta do something about that big hole(window) in the sliding door.....I'm looking forward to reading the articles and taking it with me to events to pass around.

20. vans bring back memories of how the customization of vehicles really took off. sure people painted and did interior,but the complete jobs that people did to vans really started it all.

24. John - why don't you ask your Dad & Uncle if they still have any pictures? We're crazy over pictures at vannin.com, and the really fine ideas in many of those customs jump start the creative impulse in the new generation of Vanners! Some brilliant creations have been the result.

Windows are OK, in someone else's VAN.

I really look forward to seeing what you guys come up with for your new toy. Feel free to visit us over at www.vannin.com for all the help you may need. One of the hardest things you will run into is finding custom parts. It's fortunate tho, that you have an older van. There are still items available for it. Guys like me with New body style vans need to build everything from scratch, which I'm sure you realized when you built the Big-E.

Thanx again for the attempt to bring one of the coolest customs EVER back into the limelight!

29. You have injected a shot of excitement into the vanning scene, just in time for the summer vanning season to get rolling! Any help I can provide is available to you. I was manager of one of the largest van accessory shops from 1977 til 1990, I wrote for Vannews and Van and Truckin' News when Bill Ruffulo was editor, and I was on staff for the Truckin' magazine Nationals at Byron Dragway in Illinois in the 80s. I also worked for the ISCA in the late 70s, and basically wrote the van section in their rule book. As I said, feel free to contact me for any help i may be able to give. Another member of my club, George Kettell, wrote the "Clubs and Truckin' column for Custom Vans Magazine in the late 70s/early 80s, and he is willing to help, also! Thanks again for the interest, and run those Ryder features!!!!!!
