What are the odds?

2011 El Camino?

If you're a car enthusiast, then the news that GM's Bob Lutz will hold off on his retirement should come as a welcome surprise. With several successful new car launches at GM, Lutz has been given a lot of the credit for spearheading the development of some of their best products lately.

With his resurrection of both the GTO and the Camaro, and the recent announcement that the Pontiac G8 was, "too good to waste" and would be available in North America as a Chevrolet in the not-too-distant-future, it got us wondering if a El Camino was out of the question. Australians have always had a soft spot for the quirky work truck/muscle car hybrid, but the El Camino hasn’t been available in North America in over 20 years. Pontiac was supposed to get a version of the UTE, dubbed the G8 ST, but the project was cancelled. We can't say that there's be huge demand for a UTE in North America, but the only way to know for sure that they'll sell is to bring some of them over. How hard can it be? Come on Bob, whaddya say?

PS, Please excuse the low-quality rendering, I'm no Rob Munoz.
