The odd-ball early model pickup trucks, better known as the ugly years, are gaining popularity in the custom truck scene. It dosn't matter if its a Ford Chevy or Dodge.  The odd-ball years are becoming more popular with enthusiasts and builders. Who would have thought a '61 Ford F100 Unibody pickup would become a show stopper.

Last week I was on a Truckin' road trip, driving "Big E" Truckin's Ford E350 Econoline van to cover the 16th Goodguys Summer Get Together to be held in Pleasanton, California. During my excursion up historic Hwy. 99, I stopped at Ironworks Speed & Kustom in Bakersfield, California to visit ISK owner Rodger Lee. Rodger built "Black Gold" a '57 Chevy fleetside pickup, all tube chassis, with Corvette C6 supension, LS2 power, and a Tremec 6-speed trans. It's entire build was documented with monthly update tech articles in Truckin' until its completion. It is soon to be featured in Truckin', stay tuned.

During my visit Rodger was anxious to show and tell me about his next tailgate project, a '61 Ford F100 Unibody.  The rendering is sick!

Check it out...
