The inaugural GNRS was put on by promoter Al slonaker in 1950 at the Oakland Exposition Building in Oakland, California. The show's foundation was laid by custom icon builders like "Big Daddy" Ed Roth, George and Sam Barris, Bill Hines, Dean Jefferies, Larry Watson, Carl Casper, Darryl Starbird, Gene Winfield, just to name a few. The GNRS was move to different venues in the bay area during the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80' and 90's. Current show promoter John Buck decided to move the GNRS from the San Mateo Fairgrounds to southern California in 2004. I new home would be the Fairplex in Pomona Californa which is also home of the NHRA World Finals and Winternational drag races, it is also where the NHRA Museum is located.

This years 2011 GNRS will attract 500 of the worlds most incredible indoor roadsters, hot rods, customs, lead sleds, suede rides, dragsters, vans, trucks, and vintage custom motorcycles. While anther 700 plus cool early model custom rides will be displayed outside between and around the massive Fairplex exhibit building.

I will be attending the media breakfast on Friday to visit with my mag buddies and pickup my credentials. A bonus for attending Friday morning is that following the breakfast we are allowed to roam the exhibit halls before the massive crowds invade the Fairplex on Saturday and Sunday.

Checkout some of last years bitchin' customs!
